Two hotels were bombed in Jakarta on July 17. Jemaah Islamiyah or a spin off was probably responsible. What is particularly worrying is that the suicide bombers checked into the hotels, bringing the bomb-making equipment and explosives with them, and assembled them in one or both hotels.
That is a new development and one that is, of course, worrisome.
Bad news for travelers: From now on, we should expect to have our luggage searched when checking into hotels.
