40 Years Since the Moon Landing

40 years ago Americans landed on the moon. It was an event that united America and indeed the world. America mustered the will to achieve such greatness, ran considerable risks, but such an act demonstrated what made America great.

Much has changed in the United States since then. Could we accomplish an even greater task: going to Mars. Of course the United States could. But working against such a colossal event is the American Left. The Left hated the moon landing because it demonstrated American greatness. It showed a unity of purpose and country which are anathema to the Left.

The main problem with going to Mars is the considerable engineering difficulty. It is not the lawyers and the fact that Americans have become more risk averse than 40 years ago. It is the fact that the Left has captured the Ideas Industry in the United States. The Left wants Americans back on the their heels, full of shame for the purported evils of American history. It does not want Americans looking to future, unified around a great adventure.

So, thank you for your courage Neil, Buzz, and Mike, and the others who followed. You showed what America could do, and could do again if it chose to free itself from the Left’s stranglehold. But the odds are long, and so it is likely the first humans on Mars will be Chinese, a unified, great nation.
