The 2010 Elections–A Step Forward

The results of the 2010 midterm elections are positive, but not what they need to be to reverse America’s decline. This report from the Telegraph’s

captures it:

Tonight’s emphatic conservative House victory in the US midterms is a powerful rejection of President Obama’s handling of the economy and his Big Government agenda, including his controversial healthcare reform plans. The conservative revolution has been largely spurred by disenchantment with the federal government, and a strong belief in limited government, lower taxation, and reduced public spending, as well as a desire to return to America’s Founding principles.
It is also a powerful rejection of American decline, currently being fueled by massive debts at home, weakened defences and a defeatist foreign policy. The federal debt has jumped from 40 percent of GDP in 2008 to 62 percent by the end of this year, the highest percentage since World War Two.
As I noted several weeks ago, when I wrote of the consequences of an unchecked presidency acting with impunity:
Under the Obama White House, economic decline, feckless borrowing and towering debts, which will rise dramatically further if hugely expensive health care reforms are implemented, are combined with a flawed foreign policy and national security strategy which is leaving America weaker on the world stage and more vulnerable to attack. From its decision to scrap Third Site missile defences in eastern and central Europe, to its failed policy of engagement with Iran and its timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Obama presidency is projecting dangerous weakness and compromise in the face of its enemies.
Ultimately, President Obama’s legacy to America will be the decline of a great superpower, weighed down by crushing debts and massive entitlement programs, and facing an emboldened set of adversaries, from Moscow to Tehran to Pyongyang. The damage inflicted by the Obama administration will ultimately be worse than the harm caused by the presidency of Jimmy Carter due to the scale of the long-term economic crisis now facing America.
The overwhelming repudiation of the Obama administration’s failing policies sends a clear message to the world that the American people will not accept the decline of the world’s most powerful nation. Now the hard part begins, and a very top priority for the new Congress must be reigning in the ballooning national debt, which the Congressional Budget Office predicts could rise to 87 percent of GDP by 2020, 109 percent by 2025, and 185 percent of GDP by 2035.
While the Conservative-led government in Great Britain has already embarked upon a $130 billion austerity cuts package, shedding nearly 500,000 public sector jobs, the US administration has defiantly remained with its head in the sand, while still talking in terms of further stimulus spending. That position is unsustainable. Dramatic spending cuts (with the exception of national defence) must also be coupled with a pro-growth agenda of lower taxes, private sector job creation, free trade and economic freedom.
After the immense damage of the last two years, the midterms have offered the United States an opportunity to reverse course and get back on its feet. The world needs a powerful, successful, dynamic and prosperous America, where individual liberty and freedom are the driving forces, rather than the overbearing deadweight of federal government. The American people have spoken, and the White House must be held to account.

Well, We Actually Do Know the Reason Obama Is Soft on Jihadists

A great editorial in today’s Washington Times. The reason that Obama is soft on jihadism is not because he is a secret Muslim, but because he is a Leftist. The Left wants to minimize the threat to America from jihadists. Attention to this threat might upset their larger goal of fundamentally transforming the United States.

President Obama’s latest strategic innovation in the war on terrorism is to ignore jihad and maybe it will go away.

The Obama administration is removing terms such as “jihad” and “Islamic extremism” from the U.S. National Security Strategy in an attempt to convince Muslim countries that America doesn’t view them solely through the lens of counterterrorism. It’s reasonable to look beyond terrorism in developing relationships with Islamic states. Our assistance programs are based on humanitarian motives, for example, so they need not explicitly draw links between promoting good will and hopefully making it less likely that people will fly aircraft into our buildings.

But the National Security Strategy is not some kind of outreach initiative, it is the framing document for America’s global safety. The United States cannot effectively combat the root causes of Islamic extremism by ignoring them. The war on terror – rather, the “overseas contingency operation,” in O Force terminology – won’t be effective if this country overlooks the nature of the enemy and his motives. The U.S. strategic blueprint is not the proper place for a public-relations stunt.

Even the Muslim majority states in question understand the religious component of terrorism as a motivator, recruiting tool and strategic road map. They are threatened by Islamic extremism even more than the United States and have no problem describing the threat by its true nature, which must be understood if it is to be defeated.

The most troubling signal is the one being sent through the bureaucracy that any thoughtful discussion of Islamic radicalism and the global threat it poses will be hazardous to one’s career. Analyses of the extremist Muslim threat will be increasingly deleted from briefing papers, assessments and planning documents. Those who continue to spread the alarm will be marginalized and ignored. Such sanitizing may please the White House, but it’s likely to put the United States in more danger as threats that should have been detected in advance slip by because officials have been trained not to look for them.

The new development is a disturbing example of Mr. Obama’s seeming obsession with all things Muslim. It’s reminiscent of the Department of Homeland Security’s 2009 draft glossary of domestic extremist groups that listed Christian and Jewish organizations as threats but didn’t include any Muslim groups. Or the administration’s obstinate unwillingness to describe the Fort Hood massacre as an example of Islamist terrorism, even though the shooter – Nidal Malik Hasan – clearly was wrapped up in that ideology and shouted the traditional jihadist war cry “Allahu Akbar!” before opening fire.

Mr. Obama’s Muslim mania increasingly pervades government and has yet to be adequately explained or even addressed. It places America in growing peril.

Obama’s Illegal Alien Aunt Has Her Hearing Today–It’s Closed, Of Course

In a story U.S. Old Media are reluctant to touch, today’s Telegraph reveals that Obama’s illegal alien aunt has her deportation hearing today. Of course it is closed so as not to run the risk of attracting British media, since U.S. Old Media won’t touch this.

She is scheduled to appear before a federal immigration court in Boston, where she has been living in a public housing development since 2008.
Her first asylum request was rejected, and she was ordered to be deported in 2004. But she didn’t leave the country and her status as an illegal immigrant was revealed just days before Obama was elected.
Obama says he didn’t know his aunt was living in the country illegally. He says laws covering the situation should be followed.
A judge agreed to reopen the asylum case, which will be closed to the public in accordance with Ms Onyango’s wishes.
Mike Rogers, spokesman for the Ohio law firm defending Ms Onyango, said she was not trying to “capitalise” on her relation to Mr Obama – whose father was Ms Onyango’s half-brother.

She has been living in public housing in Boston after she was ordered to be deported. So, not only will the U.S. not enforce its immigration laws, but it allows law breakers to stay in public housing. She probably votes too!

Americans live in a country that rewards lawbreaking. And the President lies about not knowing his aunt is an illegal alien. As President, he should say that, indeed, she should be deported because she broke the law.

This would have been unthinkable a generation ago. It is another datum point capturing downward trend of the United States.

Obama Recognizes the War on Terror

It took a year of struggling against reality, but it finally happened. He worked hard, fighting against the truth, but discovered that facts are stubborn things.

Obama announced yesterday that the United States is in a war on terror.

That is progress. But it won’t last. There are two narratives in this struggle, which is not fundamentally about terrorism at all for the Left, but about America. The Right sees terrorism as threat to America, and works to fight terrorism.

For the Left, the war on terror is a threat to multiculturalism, which is a cover for transforming America politically and socially.

The Left needs to downplay the war on terror to promote its agenda.

What have we found since we opened America’s borders to everyone, that is, those who are likely to vote for the Democrats, in an effort to remake America? Some bad people are going to come in. They are going to attack you. These attacks threaten the multiculturalist agenda. They run the risk of alerting the American people to the risks of the Democratic agenda, and may lead Americans to question it, and reject it. So Islamic fundamentalist terrorism has to be downplayed. It does not happen. The attack in Arkansas–a troubled man. Same for the Ft. Hood attack. But too many attacks, too quickly. Reality intervened to force Obama’s acknowledgement. Absent more attacks, it will fade. And even if more attacks are made, despite harsher rhetoric from the Obama team, they will not change the Democratic agenda of transforming America into a socialist paradise. That is the objective, and no terror attack will change it.

Reflections on 20 Years After the Fall of the Berlin Wall: Only One Form of Socialism Was Defeated

November 9 2009 marks 20 years since the Berlin Wall fell. It was an epochal event in international politics, European politics and for all of those who love freedom. It was the beginning of the end for Soviet socialism.

The event should be celebrated by all Americans. It was a great hour for the United States of America. The goal of defeating the Soviet Union and liberating the peoples of Central and Eastern Europe were realized.

Reflecting on the event, it is clear that it was the end for only one form of socialism. Other forms remain, and are alive and well in the United States, Canada, and European countries.

President Obama is not going to Berlin to celebrate the demise of socialism. Curious that.

He was so anxious to go there during the campaign. He is not going, no doubt, because it is not something he wants to celebrate. He is laboring hard to bring socialism to the United States, and does not want to call attention to the evil that is socialism or to the joy of the millions who liberated themselves from its tyranny.

Better to ignore it. The fellow travelers in the Old Media will ignore it as well since it makes all things socialistic, such as state control of the economy, look bad. Hollywood and the rest of popular culture has as well.

Americans, and freedom-loving peoples worldwide, must realize that socialism comes in many forms. There was the Soviet form and it was defeated.

Other forms have not been defeated. Particularly, the Gramscian-Frankfurt School form, which operates slowly, and through established institutions, like the educational system, media, popular culture, and the Democratic Party.

1989 is something to celebrate and should be celebrated especially given the efforts to ignore it. But while celebrating we must remain aware that socialism has not been defeated. It operates under different names but the goal is the same.

1989 is a year of freedom and casting off governmental oppression. 2009 is a year of government expansion and inviting governmental oppression under the guise of helping those less fortunate.

Freedom loving people must be aware of socialism in all of its forms. The form advanced by Barack Obama is as great a threat to liberty as any other form of socialism.

Of course, this cannot be the end but only the beginning. These events have to happen at least every few months to keep the pressure on and to ensure that the Obama administration knows more and more Americans want their country back.

The Truth Is Told: “You Lie” Obama

Thank you Rep. Wilson (R-SC)! You told the truth when you exclaimed that Obama lies when he says his health care reform will not cover illegal aliens (AverageJoe has the video below).

Let’s have more Republicans standing up to Obama.

The country needs more Rep. Wilsons at this time of peril when the Democrats control the Congress and Presidency, and the media are their allies.

In these circumstances, it is hard for Americans to get the truth out concerning what the Democrats are doing to the country. Rep. Wilson’s exclamation may have violated decorum, as the Democrats did at Bush 2005 State of the Union address, but it is necessary when the political balance of power is overwhelming against American principles and the American people. From all Americans who are worried about their liberties: Thank you, Rep. Wilson!

A Communist Leaves the Obama Administration: How’d He Get There in the First Place?

Van Jones, an acknowledged communist and Obama’s “green jobs” czar has resigned after video surfaced in which he suggested the Bush administration was behind the 9/11 attacks and used profane language to refer to Republicans. No doubt, the deeper you dig, the worse it will become.

But that is just it. The Old Media didn’t dig. They left it to Glenn Beck and the blogosphere to reveal these facts about Jones.

Move along, nothing to see, pay no attention, let us turn America into a socialist country without your interference.

How did a communist become a member of the Obama administration? Communism is a totalitarian ideology. It has killed tens of millions of people. It is completely anti-American, fundamentally at odds with the rights and freedoms Americans enjoy.

This would be unthinkable in any administration before this one. Another indicator of how far to the Left this administration is.

When are the adults in the media, among the political class, in business, going to stand up and say: Enough! Socialism and communism are anti-American and have no place in American political life.

Moreover, there is a deeper issue: how many communists and socialists are left in the Obama administration? Probably few would acknowledge their allegiance to these destructive and anti-American ideologies. But that just means that they are wise to ways of Washington. They will remain in power, advancing the goals of communism and socialism to the detriment of the country, and will never be called to account. They will never admit to their ideology, preferring innocuous terms, like “green jobs” czar or community organization, etc., etc.

Meanwhile, they will labor hard to indoctrinate Americans, through propaganda to school kids or convincing Americans they’d be better off with the government running health care and evermore segments of the American economy until, viola, we are living in a socialist state.

Americans won’t get a chance to repeal their actions. 2010 is a long way off. Much will change by then. What seems unacceptable today to many Americans may be acceptable after they have been bombarded by the Obama administration, their media and Hollywood allies.

The next presidential election is further still. By 2012, Obama and his allies will have had more time to work on the American people and will have used more tools at their disposal to remove the opposition, like talk radio.

The only path available to Americans is to get smart on American principles. That’s hard to do these days. Start by reading James Madison, John Adams, and the two Toms, Jefferson and Paine. The Federalist Papers and Anti-Federalist Paper are also great places to begin.

Once Americans re-connect with their country’s political principles, they will reject the socialism and communism of the Obama administration. Let’s get started before it is too late.
