We have been watching for any fall out from Senator Reid’s remarks.  There has been very little.  The Republicans tried.  This is not due to the potency of his odious remarks.  It is because the Left owns the public sphere.  They are the dominant voice in media and popular culture–everything from comedy shows to the nightly newscast.

They can bring as much or as little heat to bear as they wish.  Reid is a Democrat, and so he gets a pass.

And so does Attorney General Eric Holder.  He has killed an investigation into voter intimidation conducted on election day 2008 by the New Black Panther Party.  The Washington Times has a good op ed on this today.

Since the Left controls the public sphere, they can bring to place as much pressure on Holder as they wish.  And they do not want to since this terrible act conflicts with their narrative–only whites can commit voter fraud.

The Left’s control of the public sphere has huge consequences for the  health of American politics.  It is pass time for Republicans to make this an issue.  Thanks to Andrew Breitbart, who is doing his level best to aid the Right reclaim some of the public sphere.

Reid’s remarks about Obama were revealed in “Game Change,” a book detailing the 2008 race by Time’s Mark Halperin and New York magazine’s John Heilemann.

The authors describe Reid assessing Obama’s strengths as a candidate. Reid, they write, “believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama — a ‘light-skinned’ African American ‘with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one,’ as he said privately. Reid was convinced, in fact, that Obama’s race would help him more than hurt him in a bid for the Democratic nomination.”

The National Republican Senatorial Committee jumped on Reid’s comments. “For those who hope to one day live in a color-blind nation, it appears Harry Reid is more than a few steps behind them,” communications director Brian Walsh said.

Reid gets a pass on these remarks because he is a Democrat. If a Republican had made these, he would be toast, with the Democratic media complex calling for his head. The fact that it may be true does not matter. Objective analysis of Obama’s victory is not possible today, and may never be, even by historians a generation from now.

This incidence shows how race is a political weapon in American politics today. Political Correctness, a communist concept, is used to enforce the control of the Left in America.  Objective analysis, objective truth does not matter.  The Left has made its own truth, and will enforce it.  How distant this is from the American promise of freedom of speech and freedom of thought.

Harry Reid should consider himself fortunate to be a Democrat today.

The reality is different.  Read the police report, which contains Gates’ neighbor’s report as well (evidently, the Boston Globe had it on its website but took it down because it is so damaging to Gates).  It shows Gates was completely disorderly.

There was a time when a Harvard professor wouldn’t speak like that:  ”Ya, I’ll speak with yo’ mama outside.”  Gates is a jerk, and behaved horribly.  In the back of his mind, one would suspect that he knew he could convert this into decades of profit from PBS, other allies in the media, and Harvard.   Since they will create the narrative, it will be:  ”Distinguish Harvard professor arrested because he was black.”  Rather that:  ”Pompous, faux-academic, race hustler, rude to cops and arrested for creating a gross disorder.”  Gates made the decision to escalate the situation.  He is to blame.  But he will turn this into to enough gold for a lifetime.

Of course, when I first heard the report, I thought Gates was arrest by Harvard’s President, for impersonating an academic.
